2016 Insurance week theme: Insurance for all; For your peace of mind



The Insurance Week, is a week dedicated to shine the spotlight on the Zambian insurance market, with messages bringing out the importance of insurance and showcasing the available insurance products on the market. The Insurance Week was first conceptualized and implemented in 2013, attracting the support of all the stakeholders in the Zambian Insurance market. The week was introduced as a consumer education tool in a bid to improve the uptake of insurance on the Zambian market, which has a low insurance penetration rate (Insurance premiums/Gross Domestic Product) of below 2% compared to the Africa average of 3%, with countries like South Africa having an insurance penetration rate of more than 10%.
